This section is to educate everyone on how many breeds there can be of bunnies. We always recommend adopting a bun bun companion instead of buying from pet stores or breeders. So many sweet bunnies have been abandoned or mistreated and they need love in their lives. Everyone has their own view of things but if there is one thing that can sway you in your decision to adopt, it’s that bunnies do not do very well under anesthesia. If you buy from a pet shop or breeder, then it is up to you to have that bun spayed/neutered. And unfortunately they can sometimes not make it through the procedure. If you go to adopt, the bunnies are already spayed/neutered so you don’t have anything to worry about. With that said, I do understand that some areas of the world don’t offer bunnies for adoption and there is a lack of bunny savvy vets in certain areas. Those situations, cannot be helped.
Now that all of that has been said, let’s talk about the variety of bunnies. You will be surprised to learn there is an amazing number of recognized bunny breeds here in the United States. 49 to be exact!! Those, of course, are the “recognized” breeds. We will cover some of the “unrecognized” breeds, as well as other breeds of bunnies from other countries. So without further ado…..here we go!
